Harnessing AI while preserving human-centered care

AI at the point of care is not a choice between human intelligence and artificial intelligence. It is a polarity to manage well.

As AI rapidly enters clinical workflows, we face a critical question: How do we advance the power of AI while preserving the trust, clinical judgment, personalization, and human connection that high-quality care requires?

Hosted by the Wesorick Center for Healthcare Transformation and the Interprofessional Simulation Center at GVSU, this interactive panel brings together voices from healthcare and academia and from technology and clinical practice for a thought-provoking conversation about AI transformation and adoption at the point of care. Facilitated by an expert in polarity thinking, the session will explore the tensions that must be managed as AI becomes part of care delivery.

Together, we will examine key polarities such as efficiency and relationship, data-driven insight and clinical judgment, standardization and personalization, innovation and safety, and technology adoption and workforce readiness.

This session is designed for clinicians, healthcare leaders, technologists, educators, students, and anyone interested in how AI can be integrated into care in ways that strengthen, rather than diminish, human expertise and the patient-clinician relationship.

After the panel, a networking happy hour will follow immediately with tours of the Interprofessional Simulation Center available.
